Calculating optical power of WIOL-CF®

Please, use your IOL Master for calculating WIOL-CF® after you enter the latest calculation constants published for WIOL-CF® by ULIB (http://ocusoft.de/ulib/). Preferred formula is Haigis.

Here is our general recommendation how to approach calculation of WIOL-CF power:

Refractive patient (Clear Lens Exchange – good visual acuity to all distances required)

  • Use non – contact biometry (IOL Master)
  • Preferred formula is Haigis with latest update of A-constants from ULIB
  • Dominant eye: set the emetropic target refraction (0) and consider pre-operative or post-operative astigmatism when taking final decision about optical power of WIOL-CF®
  • Non-dominant eye: set the slightly myopic refraction target so that final selection of optical power is within the range from -0.5 D to -1.0 D, considering pre-operative or post-operative astigmatism

Cataract patient (visual acuity to far is priority, extended range to intermediate distance)

  • Most of patients will get bonus of good visul acuity for near
  • With dense cataract and standard use of contact ultrasound measuring always consider average measurement error and add approximately 0.5 D to result of calculation; this value is different by individual surgeon
  • Preferred formula is Haigis with latest update of A-constants from ULIB
  • Dominant eye: set the emetropic target refraction (0) and consider pre-operative or post-operative astigmatism when taking final decision about optical power of WIOL-CF®
  • Non-dominant eye: set the emetropic target refraction (0) and consider pre-operative or post-operative astigmatism when taking final decision about optical power of WIOL-CF®
